I am the Environmental Coordinator with the North Slave Metis Alliance in Yellowknife. As part of the NWT-wide Community-Based Monitoring program, we usually have one sample site that’s near Dettah and one that’s near Ndilǫ and one that’s just a little bit up the mouth of the Yellowknife River. They correlate very well with areas where our members go, they fish, they’re out in the boat.

I think it’s awesome that stuff like DataStream is being developed. You know there’s so much data that’s just sitting in people’s offices. I’d like to think having something like this available would take a lot of burden off community groups that are well poised to do monitoring and the on-the-land portion but less well equipped to have the information infrastructure.
